Jessica Cardenas PhD

Associate Professor of Surgery, University of Colorado

Dr. Cardenas’ expertise is in blood coagulation and endothelial regulation of thromboinflammation. She completed her graduate work at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where her dissertation focused on endothelial mechanisms of hypercoagulability and thrombosis associated with aging. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston examining mechanisms of traumatic coagulopathy. She started her faculty position there in 2017 and is now an Associate Professor in the department of Surgery at The University of Colorado. Dr. Cardenas’ research program is dedicated to advancing our understanding of traumatic coagulopathy, hypercoagulability, and how vascular endothelial cells (ECs) mechanistically regulate thromboinflammation during hemorrhagic shock (HS) and other critical illnesses.
