Bjorn Song PhD

CEO, Song Biotechnologies

Dr. Bjorn Song is a research physiologist/biophysicist with extensive experience with in vivo cardiovascular research, hemorrhage control and resuscitative medicine, oxygen therapeutics and microcirculation. He has performed thousands of microcirculatory surgeries and has in-depth knowledge of mammalian physiology with a focus on the microvascular system. Dr. Song has 20 years of testing and evaluation experience with oxygen therapeutics including perfluorocarbons and hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers, and measurement of oxygen tension in the microcirculation through intravital and phosphorescence quenching microscopy.

Dr. Song has held principal investigator (Naval Medical Research Unit – San Antonio) or lead scientist roles in academic, government and private sectors. He has also presented at regional, international and military symposiums. As the Chief Executive Officer of Song Biotechnologies, LLC, he conducts cutting-edge pre-clinical research in his laboratory, which was built from the ground-up beginning with a small animal microcirculatory core capability that has expanded over time to include performing in vitro bioassays, hematology and large animal research.
