Mitchell Dyer MD, MSc

Assistant Professor/Associate Investigator, Medical College of Wisconsin and Versiti Blood Research Institute

I am an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, board certified in General and Vascular Surgery, at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and an Adjunct Associate Investigator at the Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI). My clinical practice encompasses caring for patients with aortic pathology, peripheral vascular disease, and venous thrombotic disease. During my general surgical training I developed strong interests in understanding the molecular mechanisms that contribute to post-traumatic coagulopathy and post-traumatic thrombotic complications. To this end I performed a three-year postdoctoral research fellowship that combined basic laboratory investigations of post-traumatic coagulopathy and thrombosis as well as obtaining a master’s degree in clinical research with a focus on clinical trial design and implementation. I was recruited to MCW and the VBRI in September 2022 where I spend 50% of my time clinically active and 50% dedicated toward developing my research program. I work with Christian Kastrup, PhD at the VBRI in developing novel RNA therapies to improve treatment in hemorrhage and thrombosis.
