Senior Clinical Lecturer Trauma Sciences, Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London

I am an academic trauma surgeon from London, UK. I completed my PhD in 2019 at the Centre for Trauma Sciences at Queen Mary University of London under the supervision of Professor Karim Brohi and Professor Tim Warner, focusing on post-injury changes in platelet behaviour. I then took up a postdoctoral research position as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in trauma sciences. After completing my higher surgical training and subspecialty training in trauma surgery, I was appointed to my current position as a senior Clinical Lecturer in Trauma Sciences at Queen Mary University of London and Consultant Trauma Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital. My primary research focus is on the role of platelets in the pathophysiology of acute traumatic coagulopathy and post-injury organ dysfunction. I have a particular interest in the immunomodulatory roles of platelets, the mechanisms of damage sensing by platelets, and the behaviour of transfused platelets during major haemorrhage.
